Pump component

Support Bracket

A floor-standing support: a spoked disc carried on two cast legs, with the shaft bore machined through the hub.

This is the part that holds the pump off the floor and takes the whole weight of the wet end through two feet. The spokes are not decoration — they are what stops a disc this diameter ringing and flexing under a rotating load.

Cast as one piece, legs included. A fabricated support with welded legs will do the same job until the welds start working loose; on a pump that runs continuously they always do.

Casting Notes

What Is Difficult About This One

Every casting has one or two features that decide whether the batch repeats. On this part they are these.

Spokes and rim cool at different rates

The rim is the last thing to freeze and it pulls on every spoke as it goes. Section is balanced between them so the disc comes out flat rather than dished.

Legs are part of the same draw

Both feet come off the pattern with the disc — no loose pieces, no welding. That is what keeps the hundredth one square to the floor like the first.

Bore is the only tight feature

Everything else is as-cast. The hub bore is machined, and it is machined square to the foot pads in the same set-up.

Alloy Options

The same geometry is a different part in three different plants. Chloride content, abrasion and temperature drive the choice — not the name of the fluid.

AlloyGradeWhen it is the right choice
Grey ironHT200 / HT250Default for water duty. Damps vibration, machines easily, lowest cost.
Ductile ironQT450 / QT500When the duty is cyclic or the part takes shock. Tougher than grey.
WCB carbon steelASTM A216 WCBHigher strength, weldable. For pressure-bearing bodies.
CF8M stainlessASTM A743 CF8MChloride and corrosion duty — the cast equivalent of 316.

What to Send Us

These are the ones specific to this part. A drawing, a 3D file or the worn original covers all of them at once.
