Round-Body Pump Casing
A round body with a bolted joint face and three lugs on the outside. Shallow draft the whole way round, which is exactly what a vertical moulding line wants.
It is the flattest part in this group — 190 × 183 × 77 mm and about 2.4 kg. A round body with generous draft strips off a vertical line cleanly and repeatably, which is why parts shaped like this are the cheapest per piece in a batch of 100.
The joint face and its bolt circle are the only surfaces that have to be accurate. Ribs run down the outside of the body between the lugs — cast, not machined, and doing real work in stiffening a shell this shallow.

What Is Difficult About This One
Every casting has one or two features that decide whether the batch repeats. On this part they are these.
Shallow draft, clean strip
No undercuts anywhere on the outside. The whole body draws in one direction, which is the single biggest factor in batch consistency.
Ribs are structural, not decoration
A shell this flat would ring and flex without them. They are cast in and left as-cast.
Joint face is the only reference
Everything else is located off it, so it is machined first and measured on every first article.
Alloy Options
The same geometry is a different part in three different plants. Chloride content, abrasion and temperature drive the choice — not the name of the fluid.
| Alloy | Grade | When it is the right choice |
|---|---|---|
| Grey iron | HT200 / HT250 | Default for water duty. Damps vibration, machines easily, lowest cost. |
| Ductile iron | QT450 / QT500 | When the duty is cyclic or the part takes shock. Tougher than grey. |
| WCB carbon steel | ASTM A216 WCB | Higher strength, weldable. For pressure-bearing bodies. |
| CF8M stainless | ASTM A743 CF8M | Chloride and corrosion duty — the cast equivalent of 316. |
What to Send Us
These are the ones specific to this part. A drawing, a 3D file or the worn original covers all of them at once.
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Joint face bolt circle | Diameter and hole count — this is the interface that matters |
| Centre bore and register | What the shaft or cover has to locate on |
| Lug positions | Three lugs, and their clocking relative to the bore |
